On the 15 th July my Dance Intencive Program ended. It was for me an amazing time.
I met very cool people and it gave me such good body feeling. In the end I want to tell you what I really liked :
For my birthday Enis, a very good friend, invited me to the theater "Schaubuhne", there we saw "Protect me" from Falke Richter & Anouk van Dijk. It was such great piece ! I liked the craziness. It was a kind of a big monolog that a lot of people could have alone. It was aboute non sense of the western economy and the absurdity of the life. A lot of fragments were built together like I said as you would speak alone or as the autor himself... The most beautiful piece that I saw during my time in Berlin. Until this time I love the "Schaubühne". Later they asked me to come for an audition, the first of my life, I was very happy and I thought that it was the best way to finish my Dance Intensive Program.
A day, Vincent Bozek, our teacher, asked us why we dance.
I dance because it makes me feel alive !

"first step choreography" the last one ! This Friday and Saturday at 7pm (4 euros) at the Tanzfabrik, i will take part of two performences and we will show our nature dance video "Mittendrin" also !!
First project is from Rosalind Masson. I enjoy a lot to do all her fantasy exercices she does dance like she throws noise in the air and she was so generous and patient with us. She's a very sensitive artist and she gives me so much ideas that I can work on with children ! The other project with Jolika Sudermann it's base on the pulse. We bounce all the time during the piece, it has something powerfull, extrem and exact. We sweat a lot and we have a lot of fun but it is work !! I think it is a strong piece what I invite you to see ! So please come !

We had a great week-end in the nature with some of my dance friend from the Tanzfabrik. I decided just to record them and to make a video afterwards. Very interesting position ... I had the feeling to hunt some dancers who are splet in the landscape. We play with wood, trees, insects ... to dance outside is another situation as in a clean room ! The floor isn't flat. You have to intergrate your body or not, try to find a connection or not... I was always thinking about pictures. Now after all I know that I realy like to go further and try to film more dance movies !

Here I post the flyer of our performance evening in the Tanzfabrik. It is for me very challenging because of the project with 7 peoples called "Family dinner" ! There was a lot of discussion ! After the showing I go to yoga to find my balance again ;-) But I think it was a great experience !

We saw a piece from Jolika Sudermann ! It's so gut to see something that very good and not pretentious ! Amazing that we will work with her in a couple of weeks ! The piece was mostly based on the musicality of a talk or the melody of a sentence that we speak. Here have a look, very inspiring !

Klein Technik is a way to approach the functionality of the body as a dancer that really helped me ! You think that you do nothing but it can be very deep. You learn to take time and you are focusing only on yourself. Some day it was too much so I lie on the floor ;-) because just before the class I had hip hop and both activities don't fit together ;-) !

We are doing a dance piece together. It's called Family Dinner and the idea is to tell through moves or gestures the memories, the way we feel, what sort of relation we all have in the situation of a family dinner. I found this subject very interesting because of the several layers like the space organisation (around the table), the relation between body and furniture (chair, table, etc.), the role that each have in a group, the ritual aspect... We talked about our families and take some situation or feeling and we worked on the idea of the scene and then we put the scene together.
We laugh and fight. Also it is very difficult to find a studio free at the Tanzfabrik I think that it made us nervous because we have to rehearse a lot in a short time and the space is so small in some studio. It is always like that and we have to deal with and not to forget to enjoy the dance. What an amazing experience, I love it so much ;-), thanks to Alex, Zoi, Octavi, Marja, Elisa and Hyunsin !

I made a dance video called "Habillée" with Bella. I was thinking about the little movement of taking off the clothes or put on something. About skin, stretching, layers, costumes... we did that for a contest on www.choreooo.org. It was a very nice exercise maybe I will do the workshop "capturing Moving Image" with Katrina McPherson at the Tanzfabrik this summer...because film and dance has always interested me.

The holidays are now over and I want to take the time to resume you the dance performances that I saw the last days ( or a month ago ;-) ). First it was very cold but I got brave and I went threw snow to the Dock11 for the first time in February to see Bubble Boxing from Yui Kawaguchi. The main idea from the choreography was focus on the speakbublle like in comics or manga. To me it seemed very superficial and I didn't get the relation between the two figures. In the middle of the space it was a big white shinning balloon witch reacted of the touch of the dancers into sound. Because of the light of balloon it remember me the moon and the surface of this bubble was something like latex what gives the quality of the skin... it gives in a way the feeling that is organic but I don't know if it was the idea. At the end this balloon became a big eye (so big as the dancers) thanks a video projection on it... like a big organ that evolutes in the space (for me it was inspiring).
Than I saw "Violet" from Meg Stuart in radialsystem with my friend Elisa who is a fan from this choreographer. I was disappointed. 5 dancers, a big black wall and a drummer... I don't remember much only that it was very laud so that my breathcage vibrated. In a point a dancer was screaming and we couldn't hear her because the music was lauder... this was a nice moment because the space, the air was full of the sound and it give an other impression of the space. For me it was mostly quite suddenly and the dancers looked smaller.
Anyway I enjoy so much to go to dance performances, I want more !

What I saw at the wellness theatre was very nice, true, smooth, funny, surprising and more ! Thank's to you guys ! We had to take off our shoes and take place in a very cosy room with pillows on the floor. It was a stories telling evening from 4 actors, who were wearing crazy clothes, they did a dance duet also while some other persons gave the public some massage. I didn't get one but a enjoy the evening also ! Ida nowhere is a nice place !

Last week-end I was in Bremen at a rehearsal of the dance project "Einfach Grün" directed by Anne-Katrin Ortmann. I was very tired because of the 3 first weeks of the intensive dance program. Anyway I wanted to share this link with you! Please come and look the performance ! Beside the low energy it was the moment to make a little resume of the adventure and I have to say that my body it's not so bad as I thought, that I have also the feeling to live a dream.

It's so frustrating when you don't understand at all a conference. Berlin speak the most of the time in English so that so much as possible people can understand but not me !! I was yesterday by the open day 3 Performance and Public at the Uferstudio. It was very theoretical and I remember that one person said that she feels not appropriate when dance be used to a political cause she prefers when it stay a way to express a point of view of the society or to give possibility to be critical. I didn't stay until the end but I found the research quite interesting. Video about prisoners who have to dance make me think a lot.

To the festival Tanztage Berlin I went two evenings. It's not really true, I went once more but it's been full, yes I'm not from such a big town, where you have to reserve all the time and go 1 hour before... Anyway the first evening I saw "sensation 2" from Ligia Manuela Lewis and "Transformability" from Willy Prager, if I wanted to be careless I would say it was a girl, who wanted to dry her hair and tree people, who did all the time little jumps. But let's try something else ;-)
"Sansation 2" was for me very sensitive and a big show at the same time. A woman alone tried with her hair to cash some air movements. She was in the middle of the stage and the public could walk around her so throw the light she was sometimes a shadow like a drawing lines, some blowers put wind on her and she was turning her head ongoing very fast. It was cold and warm, light and intent like a trance. I liked it very much !
""Transformability" was amusing but I just want to say that I don't know if I like irony all the time. At one point I had the feeling that the public has to do like he enjoy the performance but in ironical way too... But maybe I had misunderstood. This work wanted to translate a theoretical text," Transformability" from Boyan Manchev (2006), into a dance peace with rules from mainstream culture. I have no idea about what talk this text... Funny was to see the public move the heads up and down on the rhythm of the little jumps from the dancers all the show long !
The second time I saw two performances in a room with column that hide a little bit the stage (see the picture). About the piece "Fire is raging in your Hair" I have nothing to say unfortunately ! But on the opposite I found "The harvest from Rodrigo Sobarzo" very interesting, I felt it was about built a space and to take the body a an element like "a stone in the wall". I can't not very much explain -at least I'm not a theorist- but my brain-belly felt inspired !

Today we have done some exercises on speaking and moving - both at the same time. It was funny to see that when we made slow moves we had the tendency to talk really quiet. It's difficult to dance while speaking at all, I also wanted to do some gestures all the time that support what I was saying. Anyway it could be very interesting to create a choreography that combines gestures and voices, to play with noises, phrases and bodylanguage. (I'm quite sure that it has already been done but don't let me get depressed because somebody had all my ideas before I was actually born...)

I begun to read a book about Dance History that my friend found : "TANZ , Kult Rythmus, Kunst" I'm not finished yet at all but I would like to share an idea. I like to think that dance is coming because of hunger. In the book they speak about the first drawing on the wall of the cavern and how we start to represent movement, it's begun by reproducing the speed of the animal at a hunting scene. But I was thinking that maybe we start to organise our moves like a choreographie for the hunting. So that hunger make us think moves in the space.

I read like a good student the magazine "Tanzraumberlin" so that I know what is going on. I noticed which dance piece I can and want see... for me it's unbelievable to have so much choice. I liked the article from Kai Stöger about the difficulty to earn money and dance. It
-"Armer Tanz"- said something like that:
-The second or third side job helps to get money for your own dance activity but it's has to be not so interesting so that you don't go away from the dance area.
-To find new dance moves is not only important because of the aim of a new esthetic but it's
a strategy to find a position in dance market.
This is the same in the art world.

Next monday I start a Dance Intensive Program at the "Tanzfabrik" in Berlin during 6 months. I am 33 and I am afraid that my body will not be strong enough. I never wrote a blog too so I hope I will not give up in the middle, you know, right when it becomes interesting for you !
